He asked… You accepted… And now, it’s all about the details! It takes a lot to plan a wedding and you want the best people to make this special day perfect. Your makeup and hair need to be on point with your overall vision, and communication with your makeup artist and hairstylist is key!
Planning the Perfect Look
Don’t be overwhelmed! Start out, simply, by going through magazines and looking at pictures online. Create a file that you can show your artists to help with descriptiveness and detail. Being on the same page is really all about communicating and then schedule a time, in-salon, to test out the look you’re really leaning towards. I highly recommend this! It’s best to plan this ‘style trial’ on a day when you’ll be photographed. For instance, your engagement photo day or for your bridal shower.
Airbrush Makeup Creates All Day Perfection
Speaking of perfection, your style trial day is the perfect time to test out airbrush makeup! Speaking from experience, there is no better finish. Airbrush makeup has amazing stay power and will keep you looking phenomenal throughout your wedding day. It is a mist type application, creating a light-weight and flawless finish. It can also be used to address any trouble spots in an undetectable way.
Hair and Makeup for the Wedding Party
Keep in mind, larger wedding parties generally, will require multiple artists. This will keep everyone on schedule to be finished in time for the ceremony. I generally like to book an hour and a half for brides with makeup and hair being done simultaneously. Having the bride finished an hour before the ceremony time, gives her a chance to relax and change into her gown. Bridesmaids and additional guests are booked on the hour, rotating out between the makeup artist and hair stylist.
Your Wedding Day Makeup Kit
Before your wedding day and preferably for you style trial, have a few lip colors picked out and a blotting powder. In the past, I’ve been surprised by the many brides who forget to do this! There will be a lot of toasts and kisses and the lip color will wear off, so be prepared for your touch ups.
Again, congratulations! Have fun planning this magical day. Enjoy every minute and hire people that understand your vision and care about it!
